Multi-Country & Beyond

Multi-Country Safaris

Real, plannable routes across our four core countries today, and the wider vision beyond them.

East Africa is at its best when you do not stop at a border. Mountain gorillas in the forests of Uganda, the migration on the plains of the Mara, a quiet week on the coast of Zanzibar: each country offers something the others cannot, and together they make a journey that no single destination can match. A multi-country safari links two, three or four of them into one seamless trip, planned, permitted and driven by one team.

Why combine countries

  • Variety. Rainforest primates, savannah predators, snow-capped peaks and the Indian Ocean in a single itinerary.
  • Better timing. The best season differs from country to country, so a combined route lets you chase the finest conditions.
  • Efficiency. One plan, one price and one point of contact, with flights, road transfers and border crossings handled for you.
  • Depth. Two countries seen well are richer than one seen quickly.

Popular combinations

  • Uganda and Rwanda: gorillas and chimpanzees, linked by short road transfers across the southwest border.
  • Kenya and Tanzania: the Maasai Mara and the Serengeti, the heart of the great migration.
  • Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya: primates in the highlands, then the open plains.
  • Tanzania and Zanzibar: a classic safari followed by white sand and warm sea.
  • Uganda and Kenya: the Pearl of Africa and the home of the classic safari in one trip.

How we make it seamless

Border crossings, regional flights and timing between countries are where multi-country trips usually go wrong, and where our experience matters most. We build routes that avoid long, tiring transfers, choose the right crossing point or short flight for each leg, and arrange the visas and permits that apply. Every segment is confirmed in writing, and one guide or a coordinated hand-off keeps the thread unbroken. East Africa is also tied together by a single East Africa Tourist Visa for Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda, which can simplify some itineraries.

Permits and planning

Gorilla and chimpanzee permits are limited and non-refundable once issued, so they are the first thing we secure when a route includes primates. Because permits and rooms must line up across several countries, we recommend planning well ahead, especially for July to September and December to February. Prices are quoted in US dollars after we plan your route, and every inclusion is listed clearly.

Questions about Multi-Country Safaris

View all FAQs →
Can I combine Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya in one safari?

Yes. A popular route pairs gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda with the Maasai Mara in Kenya, linked by a short regional flight. We plan the order around the seasons, handle the visas and flights, and keep one team and one price throughout.

How are border crossings and visas handled?

We advise on visas before you travel and plan the best crossing point or short flight for each leg. Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda share an East Africa Tourist Visa that can simplify some itineraries. Requirements change, so we confirm current rules for your nationality.

How do I know if a safari is multi-country?

Every Safari on the site is tagged with the country or countries it covers, and any safari spanning two or more automatically shows a “Multi-Country” label on its listing. You can also filter specifically for these under Safari type on the Safaris page.

How many days do I need for a multi-country safari?

Ten days works well for two countries, while two weeks or more makes three comfortable. We prefer fewer places in greater depth over a rushed itinerary, and we build in rest days after long travel so you arrive refreshed.

Is a multi-country safari more expensive?

It can be, because it involves more flights or longer transfers, but it also brings variety that a single country cannot. We quote the complete route in US dollars, and we can show a simpler two-country option beside it if you wish to compare.

What is a multi-country safari?

A multi-country safari combines two or more of Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania into one connected itinerary: gorilla trekking in one country paired with classic savannah wildlife or beach time in another, sequenced by us so the flights, permits and logistics work as one safari rather than several separate bookings.
