Budget accommodation
Budget and mid-range camps outside the main conservancies, along with public campsites inside parks such as the Maasai Mara and Amboseli, give cost-conscious travellers a genuine safari base without the premium conservancy rates. Many of Kenya’s budget options are run by small independent operators around Talek or Sekenani near the Mara.
Mid-range accommodation
Established mid-range options include the Sarova and Sopa lodge groups, with properties in the Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Lake Nakuru, and Samburu, as well as Ashnil and Mara Serena Safari Lodge. These combine full-board comfort, swimming pools, and reliable wildlife viewing without the top-tier price point.
Luxury accommodation
Kenya’s luxury tier includes Angama Mara and Governors’ Camp above the Mara River, Giraffe Manor near Nairobi, Elewana’s camps across the Mara and Amboseli, and Elephant Bedroom Camp in Samburu. Many of the top camps sit inside private conservancies bordering the main parks, which allow night drives and off-road viewing not permitted inside the park itself.
